The Veterans’ Wellbeing Network Mid North Coast Inc. (the Network) is a Veteran-led, Not-For-Profit and Charitable organisation consisting of unpaid Volunteers. The Network relies entirely on donations from individuals and organisations. As a Not-For-Profit organisation, the Network is also a registered Charity with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission (ACNC) and is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient. This allows Donours to claim donations on their income tax returns.
The Network also applies for, and receives, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) BEST (Building Excellence in Support and Training) Grant. The BEST Grant recognises and rewards Ex-Service Organisations, such as the Network, for their Advocacy support to Veterans and their Families.
Benefits of donating
Donations and BEST Grants received by the Network support the continued operation of the Network in supporting Veterans and their Families. The support provided by the Network includes:
- Representation to DVA on behalf of the Veteran for wellbeing and compensation support by DVA trained and qualified Advocates together with trained Wellbeing Support Officers.
- Advocating to Government on issues affecting Veterans and their Families.
- Finding accommodation for homeless Veterans and their families.
- Supporting the Partners and Families of Veterans.
However, these amounts are small and do not allow the Network to increase its support to the Veteran Community by increasing the Network’s number of Volunteers and are area of influence.
