Our Mission
The Mission of the Veteran Wellbeing Network Mid North Coast (VWNMNC) is to engage transitioning ADF personnel, veterans and their Families, to promote the family-unit’s wellbeing, resilience and self-sufficiency.
We will fulfil our Mission collaboratively, facilitating and monitoring support delivered by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and other service providers in the provision of peer-to-peer support and social networking, and by raising the regional community’s awareness of veteran and family issues.
The Australian Defence Medal
and What It Really Means
That’s a good question. Australians who have served their country wear the “Australian Defence Medal” (ADM). This medal was authorised on the 20th March 2006, and ex-service personnel who have served from 3rd September 1945 onwards may qualify. With few exceptions, anyone wearing the medal has completed four or more years of service. Keep an eye out for anyone wearing the Australian Defence Medal at any military ceremonial service such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.
